BMI Mechanical takes pride in solving complex problems, and CityServe’s headquarters in Bakersfield was no exception. As an iconic building in the community, it holds historic value. However, behind the scenes, its aging infrastructure was creating major inefficiencies. The original pneumatic controls were no longer up to the task of managing the building’s heating and air systems effectively. As their preventive maintenance partner, we saw an opportunity to bring them into the future with a full controls upgrade.
From Outdated to Optimized
The shift from pneumatic to digital controls is a technical and transformational upgrade. We replaced the old air-powered systems with modern, internet-connected controls that allow for precision management throughout the facility. At the heart of the upgrade are Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes, which now regulate airflow through each duct branch. These work in tandem with dampers to control temperature and pressure at the room level, allowing for smarter zoning and more consistent comfort.
Smarter Technology Means Smarter Spending
This upgrade modernizes the building and makes it more cost-effective to operate. By tying everything into a centralized digital control box, CityServe can now monitor, adjust and program settings from a single platform. That means fewer manual adjustments, fewer service calls and more long-term savings. It’s not just about improving comfort for building occupants but about building smarter systems that pay off over time.
A Partner for the Long Haul
CityServe’s facility may be iconic, but now it’s also equipped to meet the demands of the future. As their trusted HVAC partner, we’re proud to play a role in that transformation. With every upgrade we complete, our goal is the same: improve performance, reduce costs and give our clients the tools they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world. The future is digital, and with BMI Mechanical, it’s already here.
